Mindfulness is becoming more and more popular as the method of choice for therapists, and psychologists, often referred to as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. It is the only treatment used to treat those with Borderline Personality Disorder, and is quickly gaining traction as a treatment method for everything from mental disorders, to stress… and is even suggested as a treatment method for those battling chronic pain.
So what is mindfulness, and what can it do for you??
According to the dictionary, Mindfulness is: a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.
There are many blogs and websites out there with different, yet very same, content regarding mindfulness. There’s everything from printouts to create a workbook, to YouTube videos with guided meditation. Whatever you can get your hands on… get it! The tools taught by this concept are invaluable, and will help you with every curve ball thrown your way by the ups and downs of life. Classes for mindfulness may be found in your community, and if not, you could create one yourself.
Another option I am debating is to create a 4-8 week program that I can distribute by this blog, along with video-conferencing with a group of individuals who want to be better at being mindful, thereby reducing the stress that comes with being human. As this blog grows, my plan is to create some great Mindfulness content, and then gauge how many of my followers would be interested in such a course. I am very excited for this, and will keep you posted.
Until then, enjoy this little graphic demonstrating a moment of mindfulness.
I wanted to express a “Hello & Thank You” for following my blog recently. I just finished this entry of yours and am impressed by the content. I look forward to reading more from you.
